New Surgery-Free Nose Job Procedure

nose.jpgA recent article at Canada.com discusses a new technique for reshaping a patient’se nose without the traditional painful and intensive nose job surgery.

It’s being called the “five-minute nose job” which uses fillers like Restylane or Juvederm promising instant results, without the swelling, bruising and pain of a traditional nose job surgery.

“Individuals seek me out because they don’t want surgery,” says Toronto surgeon Stephen Mulholland, who pioneered the procedure about five years ago and has since taught the practice to surgeons across North America. “They just don’t want the risk or the recovery or the stigma of surgery or the financial commitment.”

Here’s how it works.  First the surgeon applies a numbing cream to the skin around the nose and then a shot of freezing is applied to the area.  The surgeon mixes anesethic with adrenalin which products less bruising and swelling.  The procedure continues by injecting small amounts of fillter into the nose in various spots where neeeded and then shaping and sculpting the nose to produce the desired effect, shape, and size.

The cost is significantly cheaper too.  While a traditional nose job can range between $4,000 and $8,000, this new procedure ranges between $1,000 and $1,500.

Dr. Mulholland reports that the results of this filler-based nose reshaping procedure can last from 6 months to 1 year.  This leaves patients with two interesting alternatives to traditional surgery.  They can choose to have this procedure twice a year in lieu of surgery, or they can have this procedure first so they are absolutely positive they like the shape, size, and results before moving forward with the surgical nose job procedure.

More options for the consumer are always a good thing.
