What is Breast Reduction?
Breast reduction involves the removal of fat, glandular tissue, and skin from the breasts; in some cases, the areola may also be reduced. This surgical procedure is generally done on an inpatient basis. Mammograms (breast X-rays) and a routine breast exam are required before surgery. For a reduction in breast-size, some of the breast tissue is removed and the nipples are relocated higher on the breasts for cosmetic reasons.
